How Mercari fees work in 2026

Mercari charges two fees on every completed sale: a 10% selling fee on the item price and a payment-processing fee of 2.9% plus $0.50. On a $40 item that is $4.00 + $1.66 = $5.66 in fees, or about 14%. If you choose to pay for shipping, the label cost is deducted from your payout as well.

Mercari's fee history matters if you are reading older advice: the platform dropped selling fees entirely in March 2024, then reinstated the 10% + processing model in January 2025. Anything written in between assumes zero fees and will overstate your net.

Shipping and payouts

You can charge the buyer for shipping or offer it free and buy a Mercari prepaid label, which is priced by weight and deducted from your earnings. Funds become available after the buyer rates you (or three days after delivery). Direct deposit to a bank account may carry a small fee for low balances, and Instant Pay carries a per-transfer fee.

How to keep more of each Mercari sale

  • Ship with Mercari's prepaid labels when the buyer pays shipping — the label price is passed straight through and you get shipping protection.
  • Because processing has a fixed $0.50 component, bundle small items into one order to dilute it.
  • Mercari's Smart Pricing and Offers can drop your price automatically — set a floor that still clears your target margin after 12.9% + $0.50.
  • Cross-list to Poshmark for higher-ticket clothing and to Depop for younger buyers; the same item can net more elsewhere.

Mercari fee FAQ

How much does Mercari take from a sale?
