How to actually run a resale business
34 operational guides on intake, crosslisting, consignor payouts, booth rent, shipping, pricing and reporting โ written for people running the shop, not for people evaluating software.
Getting Started
What SECND does, what it connects to, and how to set up your first week.
What SECND does, and who it is for
SECND is one system for resale inventory: photograph an item, let AI draft the listing, publish it to every marketplace you sell on, sell it anywhere, and have it come down everywhere else automatically. It is built for inventory that is one-of-a-kind rather than for restocking the same UPC.
Read guide โSupported marketplaces, POS systems and sales channels
SECND connects to resale marketplaces, POS systems and your own storefront. Marketplaces with a seller API publish server-side; the rest use a browser session through the Chrome extension. This page explains what each connection type can and cannot do.
Read guide โCommon questions about running your shop on SECND
The questions that come up most in demos, answered without marketing language: what happens when two channels sell the same item, what the free plan really includes, how migration works, and what happens to your data if you leave.
Read guide โManaging multiple stores and locations
Multiple locations sit under one organisation, sharing a catalogue while keeping stock, sales and reporting separate per site. This page covers when to use locations, how stock visibility works online, and how to keep staff scoped to their own shop.
Read guide โMigrating to SECND
Moving off Vendoo, List Perfectly, or a spreadsheet without losing history.
How to migrate from Vendoo to SECND
Migrate by importing your live marketplace listings into SECND rather than exporting from Vendoo, run both tools in parallel for a week with delisting active in only one of them, then cut over. The risk to manage is duplicate listings, not lost data.
Read guide โHow to migrate from List Perfectly to SECND
The migration path is the same shape as any crosslister move: import from the marketplaces rather than from the old tool, keep delisting enabled in only one system during the overlap, and cancel once you have watched a sale delist correctly on every channel.
Read guide โHow to move off spreadsheets into SECND
Spreadsheets migrate cleanly if you clean them first. Fix the SKU column, split anything you have been storing as free text, decide what history is actually worth importing, and resist recreating your spreadsheet's structure inside the new system.
Read guide โInventory & Cataloging
Intake, imports, photos, barcodes and labels for one-of-a-kind stock.
How to create a product and crosslist it
Photograph the item, let AI draft the listing, correct anything wrong, set price and condition, then choose which marketplaces to publish to. The draft is created once and mapped to each marketplace's required fields automatically.
Read guide โHow to import your existing inventory
There are three import paths โ from a connected marketplace, from a POS catalogue, or from a CSV file โ and they are not interchangeable. Marketplace import is the one that gives SECND the listing IDs it needs in order to delist correctly later.
Read guide โHow image processing and background removal work
SECND can process listing photos automatically โ background removal, cropping and sizing to each marketplace's requirements. This page covers what the processing does, how to configure it, and the cases where you should leave a photo alone.
Read guide โHow label printing and barcodes work
Every item gets a SKU, and the barcode on its tag is what connects the physical object to its inventory record and its marketplace listings. Tags print in batches on standard thermal label printers, and the layout is configurable.
Read guide โCrosslisting & Marketplaces
Connecting channels, publishing, auto-delisting, templates and bulk edits.
How auto-delisting works
When any channel reports a sale, SECND marks the item sold and queues a delist for every other channel it is live on. Most delists complete within seconds. Failures are retried and surfaced rather than swallowed, because a silent delist failure is the one thing that produces a double sale.
Read guide โHow to connect a sales channel
Connecting a channel authorises SECND to read and manage listings on your behalf. Connect your highest-volume channel first, import before you publish, and check the account-level settings each marketplace requires before your first listing goes out.
Read guide โHow listing templates and description affixes work
Templates and description affixes let you maintain the parts of a listing that never change โ shipping notes, policies, sign-off โ in one place instead of inside a thousand listings. Change it once and it applies everywhere it is used.
Read guide โHow bulk editing and relisting work
Bulk edit changes a field across a selected set of listings and pushes the change to every channel they are live on. Relisting is a different operation with real trade-offs โ it can refresh visibility, and it can also throw away listing age.
Read guide โCross listing from an iPhone
The iPhone app is for the part of cross listing that happens away from a desk: photographing stock, drafting the listing, and publishing it to every connected marketplace before you get home. Delisting still happens server-side, so a sale while your phone is in your pocket still takes the other listings down.
Read guide โFree cross listing on Android
The Android app runs the same free plan as the web app: unlimited cross-posting, sale detection and automatic delisting, with AI generation capped at 5 listings a month. Use the phone to photograph and publish; delisting does not depend on the phone staying open.
Read guide โPOS, Consignment & Vendors
Selling in person, consignor splits and payouts, booth rent and settlement.
How in-person selling works in SECND
You can check out through the SECND register or through a connected POS like Square, Shopify or Lightspeed. Either way the sale reduces the same inventory record your marketplace listings point at, which is what removes those listings within seconds.
Read guide โHow consignor payouts work
Every sale of a consigned item posts a ledger entry at the split that was attached to that item when it came in. Balances accumulate per consignor, payout runs settle them for a period, and each consignor gets a statement that reconciles line by line.
Read guide โHow consignor contracts, splits and periods work
A consignor record holds the split, the consignment period and any markdown schedule. Those terms attach to each item at intake, so what a consignor is owed never depends on what their terms happen to be today.
Read guide โHow booth rent and vendor settlement work
Each vendor gets a booth carrying a rent schedule and a commission rate. Tags carry the vendor code, the central register credits each line to its booth, and settlement nets sales against rent and commission in one run per period.
Read guide โOrders & Shipping
How orders arrive, how you fulfil them, and how shipping profiles work.
How orders arrive and get fulfilled
Every channel's orders arrive in one queue with the item, its location and its shipping profile attached. You pick, pack, buy a label and ship; tracking flows back to the marketplace automatically so the buyer sees it where they bought.
Read guide โHow shipping profiles work
A shipping profile bundles weight, dimensions, service level and who pays into a reusable setting. Assign it at intake and every marketplace quotes shipping correctly, which removes the most common source of margin leakage in online resale.
Read guide โHow measurements and units work
Measurement fields are configured per category and rendered consistently on every listing. Getting them right is the cheapest available reduction in return rate for anyone selling apparel, where the size on the label is frequently not the size of the garment.
Read guide โStorefront & Brand
Your own shop, your own domain, and the emails your customers receive.
How to set up your public storefront
Your storefront is a public shop that sells directly from the same inventory as everything else. There is no separate catalogue to maintain, no marketplace commission on sales, and an item sold there delists from your marketplaces like any other sale.
Read guide โHow to put your storefront on your own domain
Pointing your own domain at your storefront takes two DNS records and up to a day to propagate. It matters more than it looks: search authority, email deliverability and customer trust all accrue to a domain you own rather than to a shared subdomain.
Read guide โAI & Automation
How drafting works, how to shape its voice, and what you can automate.
How AI listing drafting works
The AI reads your photos and drafts a title, category, condition, attributes and description for you to review. It is a first-draft engine, not an autopilot โ the value is in removing the blank page, and in learning your voice from the corrections you make.
Read guide โHow to customise your AI prompts and voice
You can give the AI standing instructions: how formal to be, what vocabulary to use for condition, what to never claim, and what every listing in a category must mention. Written well, these instructions do more for draft quality than any amount of per-item editing.
Read guide โHow automations and workflows work
Workflows run rules on a trigger โ an item ageing past a threshold, an intake batch completing, a schedule. They are most valuable for the decisions you already make consistently and least valuable for the ones that need judgement.
Read guide โAccount, Billing & Team
Plans, invoices, seats, permissions and organisation settings.
How SECND pricing and plans work
There is a standing free plan that includes crosslisting, sale detection and automatic delisting with a monthly AI listing allowance. Paid plans raise the AI allowance and add team, automation and reporting capability. The current numbers live on the pricing page.
Read guide โHow to invite and manage your team
Team members are invited into your organisation by email and given a role. Roles scope what each person can see and do, which matters most for shops using volunteers or part-time staff who should be able to do intake without seeing payouts or billing.
Read guide โHow to change or cancel your plan
Plan changes happen in billing settings: upgrades prorate immediately, downgrades apply at the end of the period, and cancellation keeps access until the period you paid for ends. Deleting your account is a separate, permanent action โ and it does not cancel billing on its own.
Read guide โReports & Pricing
Sell-through, margin, channel performance and rule-based pricing.
How reports and analytics work
Four reports do most of the work in a resale business: sell-through, aging, margin after fees, and channel performance. Everything else is interesting. These four change what you buy, what you price and where you list.
Read guide โHow pricing rules work
Pricing rules adjust your base price per marketplace, apply consistent rounding, and enforce floors. They exist because the same item should not always carry the same price on every channel โ fee structures and buyer expectations differ.
