How to migrate from Vendoo to SECND

Migrate by importing your live marketplace listings into SECND rather than exporting from Vendoo, run both tools in parallel for a week with delisting active in only one of them, then cut over. The risk to manage is duplicate listings, not lost data.

Import from the marketplaces, not from Vendoo

The instinct is to export a catalogue from your current tool and import it into the new one. For crosslisting migrations that is usually the wrong path, because the authoritative record of what you are actually selling is not in the tool — it is in the live listings on eBay, Etsy, Poshmark and the rest.

Importing from the marketplaces means SECND ends up holding the same listing IDs that are live right now. That is what lets it delist them later. A catalogue imported from a file has no relationship to your live listings, so it can create duplicates instead of managing what exists.

The migration, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect your marketplaces to SECND

Start with the channel that carries the most of your inventory. Connecting does not change anything on the marketplace — it authorises SECND to read and later manage listings.

  2. 2

    Import your live listings

Pull existing listings into SECND so each becomes an inventory record tied to a real listing ID. Do this for every channel before you publish anything new.

  3. 3

    Reconcile duplicates

The same physical item listed on four marketplaces should end up as one SECND item with four listings, not four items. Review the import and merge anything that came in separately.

  4. 4

Turn delisting on in exactly one tool

This is the critical step. Two tools both trying to delist the same item will fight, retry, and produce confusing marketplace errors. Choose SECND, and turn Vendoo's delisting off.

  5. 5

Run parallel for about a week

Keep the Vendoo subscription while you sell through a normal week. You are checking one thing: that a sale on any channel produces a correct delist everywhere else.

  6. 6

List new intake only in SECND

From day one of the parallel period, new items go into SECND only. Do not create anything new in the old tool — that is what makes the eventual cutover a non-event.

  7. 7

Cancel once a full sale cycle has proven out

When you have seen sales on each connected channel delist correctly, cancel. Not before, and there is no reason to wait much longer either.

Differences to expect in the workflow

  • Publishing is server-side on API-connected channels, so you do not need a browser tab open for listings to go out.
  • Inventory is the primary object rather than the listing, which is what makes POS sales and marketplace sales behave identically.
  • AI drafting produces a first draft from photos, so intake is a review step rather than a writing step.
  • Consignment, booths and a register exist in the same system, which matters if you have a physical location.

Frequently asked questions

Will migrating end my listings or reset their age?

No. Importing reads your existing listings; it does not recreate them. Listing age, watchers and search history on the marketplace are untouched because the listings themselves never change.

Can I run Vendoo and SECND at the same time?

Yes, and for about a week you should. The one rule is that only one of them may have delisting enabled, otherwise both will try to act on the same sale.

What if I have thousands of listings?

Import in batches by channel rather than all at once. It makes reconciliation reviewable, and it means a problem on one channel does not contaminate the whole migration.

Do I need to relist everything to get the AI descriptions?

No, and you probably should not. Leave established listings alone and let AI drafting work on new intake. Bulk editing existing listings is available when you actually want to change them.
